Below is an excerpt of the Constitution that details the entire YEAR END PROCESS. Right now we're only interested in completing steps 1 through 5. I also want to make the two following notes to make the process easier on everyone:
- First, the way to keep the details of your roster and update it for 2017 is as follows: Press Edit on your roster post, scroll to bottom and press on BBCode, press CTL + A to select all and then right click press Copy, get out of there are in a Reply under all posts press Paste and Enter. From that point, simply edit that document to note 2017 and make all necessary changes. This allows us all to compare the 2016 and 2017 versions in order to make sure your roster is "Legal".
- Second, the only major change aside from those noted below is to make a list for "2017 Free Agents" within your roster page. All of those lists will be compiled into one list for the opening of the Free Agency period in early January. Makes things easier and reduces chances of bidding on players already owned.
Any question, please let us know below so all can benefit from answers!
YEAR-END PROCESS
** The Field of Dreams season runs from November 1st through October 31st 23:59 ET each year **
1. On November 1st, the following things must be completed by November 15th:
a. Subtract 1 year from each player's contract
b. Add ARB amounts to Salary Caps as applicable (see Minor League Roster, Promotions, Arbitration & Amateur Draft rules)
c. Subtract Options for each player that remains on the Reserve roster on November 15th (which will be their option for the entirety of the upcoming season)
d. All Minor League players who had 1 year left on their contracts must be promoted to the active roster and signed to a 1-Minors ARB(-) OPT(-) contract, and if they were on a 1-Minors ARB(-) OPT(-) they must be signed to a 6-year ARB(year 4, year 5, year 6) OPT(4) contract.
e. All players with expiring contracts that will not be signed are to be annotated on your team page so that a Free Agent list can be compiled as swiftly as possible by the Commissioners
2. Payments for the follow-on season will be due by November 15th each year. Payments can be taken from League winnings, can be made well in advance, and if an owner is experiencing some difficulties the 3 Commissioners will convene to come to an agreement on a possible extension.
3. Extensions depend on the owner's involvement and dedication to the league and the agreement must be agreed to by all 3 Commissioners.
4. Should an owner need to be replaced, the waiting list will be used on a first-come first-served basis. If there is no owner on the waiting list, owners will be asked to look for potential owners, and if none are available, advertisements will be made on Rotoworld and elsewhere.
5. Once all payments have been received and rosters have been updated, owners will need to post the following under their roster pages:
"Year-End Verification
1. Subtracted 1 year from each player's contract
2. Added ARB amounts to Salary Caps as applicable
3. Subtracted Options for each player that remains on the Reserve roster
4. All players with expiring contracts are annotated on my team page
5. Payment has been made
6. Ready for Final Verification"
6. The 3 Commissioners will review all of your Transactions, ensure that your roster is legal and up-to-date, and once they're happy with your roster status will post VERIFIED under your Year-End Verification page.
7. All teams that have been Year-End verified may begin making trades and posting players to waivers immediately with other teams that have been Year-End verified.
8. On January 5th at 05:00 ET of each off-season, each League owner will get a chance to pick up Franchise Free Agents. This period will be open until January 7th at 04:59 ET.
9. Free Agency will re-open yearly on January 8th of each off-season at 05:00 ET and will remain open until the Friday 23:59 ET of the week before the Field of Dreams playoffs begin.
10. Major League rosters must be full before the season begins (minimum of 40 players) and only those players who are listed as being on their respective team's DL on MLB.com can be placed on Field of Dreams roster DLs.
11. Minor League rosters need to have a minimum of 20 players before the season begins.
12. Owners will be responsible to make all CBS roster changes requests required to make their rosters reflect the one on Proboards before the season begins.
