The Rays sign Sean Rodriguez, 1B/2B/SS/OF, ATL to a $4M (3 Yrs) ARB(-) OPT(-) contract and place him on the Bench.
CORRESPONDING MOVE: Move Jace Peterson, 2B ATL, from the Bench to the Reserves roster (will deduct options at the end of the off season).

The Rays owed Drew Storen $3M for 4 years (total of $12M) due to waiving him in 2016.
With the Orioles signing Storen for $3M for 3 years (total of $9M), the Rays are able to add $3M to their budget for 2017 - 2019, and only owe Storen the last year of his contract, $3M in 2020.

The Rays sign Jake Diekman, RP TX, to a $3M (4 Yr) ARB(-) OPT(-) contract and place him on the Hurlers roster.
The Rays also take out insurance on Diekman at a cost of $300k.
