For reference, here are the rules as stated in the constitution for trade objections:
"B. OBJECTIONABLE TRADES AND COLLUSION:
1. Trade Objection: it is asked that you reserve objections for those trades that seem to involve Collusion or are Grossly disproportionate.
2. Claims of possible Collusion will addressed by the league as a whole in a calm and patient manner, as they are severe in nature and must be addressed for the league to move on. There will be positions made on either side, and the league will vote on whether the teams involved should remain in the league if it is agreed that Collusion likely took place by 60% of the voters (all GMs except those accused).
3. As far as the Objectionable trade is concerned, 3 complaints about a trade received by the League Commissioners within 72 hours, a poll will be posted. The poll will last 72 hours. A minimum of 12 "No - the Trade should not be allowed" votes must be received for the trade to be vetoed.
4. Although some trades may not be severe enough to be seen as objectionable, GMs may not agree that there was fair value in a trade. In such cases, if the GM wants to let that owner know, the GM is encouraged to send a private message to that GM, voicing opinion and reason in a respectful manner. This has a two-fold benefit: it keeps things private and doesn't embarrass the GM involved, and it also allows GMs to know how other GMs feel about their deal (something they can learn from in some occasions).
5. Trade Veto Procedure has been established for the league for the 2017 season and beyond as follows:
Step 1: Commissioner gets 3 complaints about a trade.
Step 2: Commissioner makes the league aware of this.
Step 3: The teams involved in the trade have 72 Hours to make their case. If nothing is posted, it will be assumed that they have nothing to add.
Step 4: A Vote takes place on whether to approve of the trade or not.
12 votes against are required to Veto a trade.
**No team that isn't involved in the trade may make comments about the validity of the deal. They are simply to vote yes or no."
First, I want to point out the part I put in bold above. Per the changes we made after the last trade review, no teams who are not involved in the trade (e.g. any teams that aren't the Red Sox or Rangers) may make comments about the deal. I'm going to give Rangers and Red Sox a chance to make their cases for why the trade was fair (by replying to this thread). Once they have done so (if they choose to do so), I will post a poll asking owners if the trade should be allowed or not.
As for the review, I am posting this because I received at least 3 objections to the trade. I'd also like to point out that none of the owners who contacted me are accusing Red Sox or Rangers of collusion. Instead, they stated this falls under the Grossly Disproportionate part of the rule. Just wanted to make that part clear too.
Anyways, enough of me rambling. Red Sox and Rangers, you are welcome to state your case for why the trade isn't grossly disproportionate. Once y'all have done so, I'll put up the poll. Again, NO ONE not involved in the trade should comment on the trade. Thanks guys!
