In response to our lengthy discussion on WhatsApp regarding interpretations of the roster limit rules, I propose the following is added to the league constitution.
In the Major League Rosters section:
Teams are not allowed to exceed 40 MLB players at any point in the year, including the off-season. In conjunction with our IL rules, players must be officially on the IL before a manager is allowed to replace the player with someone else. If a team is caught exceeding their roster limits, the following penalties apply:
a. 1st offense = warning and a 24 hour period to correct
b. Future offenses = $1 million fine or 1st round pick if cap space has been extinguished
In the Minors section:
Teams are not allowed to exceed 40 MiLB players at any point in the year, including the off-season. If a team is caught exceeding their roster limits, the following penalties apply:
