The Rays claim as a franchise free agent. You can claim him as a regular waiver claim, but you cannot claim Beckham as a franchise free agent. First, I don't believe franchise free agents can be claimed via waivers. I could be wrong so Mat may need to confirm that rule. From what I understand, they can only be claimed out of free agency. Second, Beckham would not be eligible to be claimed as a minors free agent anyways because he played fewer than 30 games in the minor leagues last season. Third, I don't think you can claim a guy with a majors contract as a franchise free agent since the franchise free agency rule only applies to minor league players |
