Here are my predictions:
American League:
AL East: Blue Jays AL Central: Twins AL West: Astros AL WCs: Angels and Royals
National League:
NL East: Nationals NL Central: Cardinals NL West: Dodgers NL WCs: Giants and Cubs
World Series:Blue Jays vs Cubs
Champions:Cubs
I'd love to put the Astros in the WS, but I think they may have to wait until 2016 to be true contenders (pitching related). I went with Cubs as WS champs because of the way they handle the Cards and their #1/2/3 are better than Cards 1/2/3, which is key in the playoffs. That and they have the goods to make a deal or two to help them get over the top before the deadline (likely 1 more arm and 1 reliever).

As a guy who has watched almost every Astros game, I agree that they may need to wait until 2016 to be true contenders - they still have some holes. However, keep in mind that the Astros are almost for sure going to add another pitcher to their rotation before the deadline (I'm thinking Cueto or Kazmir). If they do, they'll have a rotation of Keuchel, Kazmir/Cueto, McCullers, McHugh, and Velazquez... that's pretty lethal. Throw in one of the top bullpens in MLB and the most powerful lineup, and you've got a pretty scary team.

Could be true, but I think they'll be a little scared to pull the trigger and send too much young talent over. I see them more waiting for a FA to make a spash next year. Someone like Cueto or Zimmermann. Their pen additions this year were exactly the guys I wanted the Jays to add. Imagine how far they'd be with Neshek and Gregorson in their pen! Also, if the Astros do get Cueto, pretty sure it would cost them some pitching in return. Don't know if that would be McCullers, but either way, it would take away depth. If they can make it to the playoffs, anything can happen and as the Giants showed, 1 pitcher can make all of the difference in the world. If Keuchel can be that guy, then good luck to them! I just don't expect that to become reality. I see them more as a playoff team that will gain from the experience and wind up losing to the Blue Jays, Royals or Angels. My Blue Jays prediction is solely based on them getting pitching help. If they don't, Anthopoulos should be fired. Anything can happen in the playoffs though. I never once thought the Giants would get anywhere, and they usually do.

Yes, I agree with you, but I think the Astros could grab Kazmir (again, my guess at who they add) without giving up Velasquez or McCullers - Kazmir shouldn't be too costly. If they add Kazmir to their rotation, I see them as serious contenders. As for the Jays, I only see them contending if they add pitching help (like you said). The MLB playoffs are such a crap shoot that it's difficult to predict what happens in October - the key is getting to the show.
