Initial Field of Dreams Draft Rules
1.The randomized draft order will be posted prior to the draft.
The initial draft order will be decided randomly at the following site:
www.draftordergenerator.com
Results will be automatically e-mailed to owners from the site. There will be a different order for each the Major League Draft and the Minor League Draft.
2.The draft will consist of 40 rounds for the Majors and Reserve roster, and 40 rounds for the Minor league roster.
3. The draft order will invert (snake style).
4. Participants have 12 hrs after the previous player's pick to make their selection.
5. Failure to meet the 12 hr deadline results in your turn being passed. Skipped owners may make picks any time after turns are passed.
6. Any players left undrafted at the conclusion of the draft will be considered free agents.
7. All teams must have full rosters once the draft is completed.
8. Remember that players that begin on the reserve roster must be eligible (under 1800AB/750IP/250GP) and will automatically use 1 option when the season begins if they are still on the reserve roster at that time. Reserve players taken in the initial draft will receive the following salary (using up one option valid for entire 2016 season in shown by the *):
$400,000 (6 years) ARB($200K per season) OPT(3)*
Total cost for Reserve Roster initial season's start will be $5,200,000
For example: Mike Olt is selected and placed on the reserve roster, he has the following contract progression each season:
2016 = $400,000 (6 years) ARB('19, '20, '21) OPT(3)*
2017 = $600,000 (5 years) ARB('19, '20, '21) OPT(2)* (if he spends time on the reserve roster that season, using his 2017 option)
2018 = $800,000 (4 years) ARB('19, '20, '21) OPT(1)* (if he spends time on the reserve roster that season, using his 2018 option)
ect...
For each ARB year, owners will get to decide whether or not they want to pay that amount during the Year-End Process. If they decide to release the player to FA, they have no financial obligation to the player. Arbitration years take place in the 4th, 5th, and 6th year of the player's contract as follows:
ARB year 1: $1,000,000 (so $400,000 league min + $1,000,000 = $1,400,000 salary for the first year of Arbitration)
ARB year 2: $1,500,000 (so $1,400,000 + $1,500,000 = $2,900,000 salary for second year of Arbitration)
ARB year 3: $2,500,000 (so $2,900,000 + $2,500,000 = $5,400,000 salary for the third and final year of Arbitration)
Using Olt's example above, in 2019 his salary would jump to $1,400,000. In 2020, it would be $2,900,000. Ect...
9. Active roster players will all receive the following contracts:
Rounds 1 to 3: $6M (X years) ARB(-) OPT( depends whether below the 1800AB/750IP/250GP threshold) (total cost $18M)
Rounds 4 to 10: $3M (X years) ARB(-) OPT( depends whether below the 1800AB/750IP/250GP threshold) (total cost $21M)

Total cost for Active Roster initial season will be $52,500,000
Owners will get to decide how many years they want to allocate to each player (Max 6). Once decided upon, the decision will be final.
10. Each team must enter the contract being assigned to each player in their transaction page which will then be verified by a Commissioner when ready to do so, but before February 1st 2016.
11. Once the draft is completed and Free Agency / Waivers is opened, any player can be waived.
12. Minor league players may be chosen must be under the 130AB/50IP. Thresholds and must have been drafted or signed by an MLB team when the draft began.
13. Once both the Major and Minor draft have been completed, the league will revert to an auction style process using the Free Agency rules of the respective roster portions.
14. The total roster costs of the initial season ($52.5M active + $5.2M reserve) allow for $42.3M of auction style spending throughout the season based on our $100M cap. This can be applied to minor league or major league players.
