Hey guys, '
We are flipping the calendar to the 2018 FOD season; Ryan is going to be really busy over the next month, so he's asked me to assist and help out with the fantrax work..
YEAR-END PROCESS
1) I will go through and remove all players that have one year remaining on their contracts this weekend or early next week.. Please release all players that are becoming FA's.. I'm not able to go through and release players from each team.. Ensure your MLB and MiLB rosters are at or below 40 men at this time (I'm assuming some teams **such as mine still have players on the DL and will be over 40 men until the free agents are dropped).. Last year we had a discussion regarding players on the DL during the off-season and decided you can only carry 40 MLB players into the off-season (I don't think fantrax allows players to be on the DL anyways). At this time you will need to decide if you are going to sign your minors-1 players to a long term deal - for example one of my Minors-1 guys that I'll resign will look like this: Jacob Barnes RP MIL 6yr $400K ARB ('21-'23) OPT 4. You can start this by creating your new 2018 transaction log.
2. Payments for the follow-on season will be due by November 15th each year. Payments can be taken from League winnings, can be made well in advance, and if an owner is experiencing some difficulties the 3 Commissioners will convene to come to an agreement on a possible extension.
3. From last year "Should an owner need to be replaced, the waiting list will be used on a first-come first-served basis. If there is no owner on the waiting list, owners will be asked to look for potential owners, and if none are available, advertisements will be made on Rotoworld and elsewhere."
*we are going to be replacing 2 teams this far, I've currently started searching for replacements, if you know of anyone that'd like to join, please let me know.
4. Once you have completed the above, please let me know and I will go through and edit the contract years, and ensure everything is in order.. It looks like the salary cap hits did not carry over so I'll be going through the 2017 cap hits to see what needs to be carried over from the previous seasons. So the current salary will not be correct until I do that. *EDIT: I'll go through and adjust the options at this time as well.
5. Once that happens go through and review to ensure everything I've done is correct, after that, you will be good to go and trading will be open for your team.
6. Free Agency - I'll leave that up to Ryan/the league when we open the league for free agent bidding.. I've posted another thread which includes most of the free agents if you are ready to start prepping.
7. Major League rosters must be full before the season begins (minimum of 40 players) and only those players who are listed as being on their respective team's DL at the start of the season on fantrax can be placed on the Fantrax DL.
8. Minor League rosters need to have a minimum of 20 players before the season begins.
EDIT: Injury Insurance, this will need to be decided sometime before the season, but I think it's a little early to ask teams to commit to that.. I think this will be taken care of at a later date.
If I'm missing something or something is not clear please let me know..
I think we'd like to have this process wrapped up by November 15th which gives owners enough time for a little break, if needed, and allows other teams to go ahead and get started if they choose to.
Thanks guy!
