Hey guys,
With FA in full swing, I wanted to remind everyone of a few things as we move forward.
1) Please remember that you can ONLY bid what you have in available cap space. I know that sounds simple, but it can be easy to lose track of if you're bidding on a bunch of players at once. If at any point you are caught bidding more $ than you have available, you will be fined.
2) You will have 48 hours to sign a player once he is won at auction. If you fail to do so, you will lose the rights to the player and will be fined. Also, keep in mind that you MUST make any necessary corresponding moves to make room on your roster for the player you are signing. If the player you've signed has no options (and therefore must be placed on the 27 man active roster), you'll need to demote a player to the reserve roster (if he has options and is eligible for the reserve roster), or waive a player to make room. If you fail to make the necessary corresponding moves, you will be fined (and risk losing the rights to the signed player) as it's obviously an unfair advantage to roster more than the allowed number of players
3) PLEASE post transactions: It's VERY important that you post every transaction in the 'Team Transaction Thread'. If you fail to do so, it makes Jarrod and I's jobs a ton more difficult as we go through and update transactions in Fantrax (and you risk being fined if you fail to post the transactions). When in doubt of whether or not you need to post a transaction, go ahead and post it!
Also, when you post the transactions, please be sure to post the full salary info for the player(s) involved AND make the changes in Fantrax when you post the transaction. Here are some examples of the wrong and right way to post transactions:
Wrong: The Astros sign Bryce Harper and demote Byron Buxton to the reserve roster.
Right: The Astros sign Bryce Harper to a $20m (6 Yrs) ARB(-) OPT(-) contract and place him on the active roster. To make room for Harper on the active roster, the Astros demote Byron Buxton - $6m (4 Yrs) ARB(-) OPT(4) to the reserve roster. Buxton exercises his 2018 option and his options are now (3)*
4) If you want to purchase in jury insurance on any of your players, you MUST do so by January 31. You can read more on injury insurance in the constitution. If you're still confused after reading through it, let Jarrod and I know and we can explain it more in depth to you.
Good luck to everyone in FA - Looking forward to getting the 2018 season rolling!
