Another way to do it would be to consider anyone with a ML appearance at the start date eligible for the ML draft.

Another way to do it would be to consider anyone with a ML appearance at the start date eligible for the ML draft. That's an interesting idea... It would allow the minor league draft to be a true minor league draft where it's full of only minor league players. Personally, I don't see a problem with someone wanting to draft a player in the major league draft who has only spent brief time in the majors. If the owner wants to issue that player a major league contract and place them on his reserve or active roster, I feel like he should be able to do so (again, only if the player has played in the majors prior to the beginning of the draft). It could add some interesting scenarios where coaches have the option to make a safe pick (older veteran) or a riskier pick (younger guy with more risk, yet more upside). I might be missing something though... Y'all let me know if I am.

Yankee team has best idea if we are going to draft for 2016 league. I agree. We will re-post the poll which I am closing now. It seems that it may of had to be re-posted anyhow since we have a few MIA owners. I'll re-format the questions with 3 options and will wait until both team ownership issues are resolved before posting.

I agree with Wayne and the Yankees sense we are drafting in the middle of the season the best way to give everyone a chance at top rookies in 2015 who are already up and playing now with their major league teams while the rookie draft will be for mostly 2016 prospects.........Good idea Yankees

I also agree with Yankees GM fair for everyone. So the freeze for minor leaguers making an appearance will be the start of our draft? And any one that might come up between the start and end of the draft will only be eligible in the minors? For example, I expect the twins to call up Sano between the start of the majors draft and end of the minors draft. And he would only be available in the minors draft correct?

#2 because you know that certain guys will be MLB ready when you take them in your minors draft. Your making minors picks- already knowing what the future holds. If i am drafting first in the Minors draft, i don't have to take a 3b or SS- because i have a lock in Stud Cats between Bryant or Correa.. Let somebody else waste a pick on those positions- I have an borderline All-Star player ready to go.. May i suggest the team that drafts first in the MLB portion, Drafts last in the MiLB portion. You shouldn't be first both times, nor should you be last.. Your second suggestion goes directly against the first. If all owners have no idea when they'll be drafting in the Milb draft, they can't do what you describe. The whole premise is that the draft be random. What I could propose is that the Top 10 in the MLB draft be randomly selected for the bottom 10 in the Milb draft and vice versa. I personally agree that going with what's happening now is better than reverting to the past, but it is a league decision. YEp- change that #2 to #1, and do the MiLB draft in reverse order.. too many hockey trades while pondering baseball..
