That run support stat is glaring. Wins are overrated in showing the value of a SP in my opinion. I think Verlander should have taken home the award.

Unfortunately, Wins are what a lot of the writers look at, as well as playoff teams. Look at Felix Hernandez, who was the best AL pitcher, but didn't win the award because Seattle had such a bad offensive team he never got a lot of wins, plus the fact he was in Seattle, and not in NY, LA, Boston, etc.
As the article says, until some of the older guys leave, we'll have to wait for the newer writers who at least are in tune with what's happening in baseball and who use the newer stats, to begin making more sense of these awards.

Kate Upton rose about 15 notches in my book after her tirade on twitter. hilarious.
If you're going to give the award to verlander or porcello, i think its verlander. However, I think Zach Britton deserved the award in all honesty, and im surprised more people aren't up in arms about that. Britton was insanely dominant this season, was perfect in save opportunities at 47/47, an ERA of 0.54 (which is NUTS), WHIP under one at 0.83, 9.9 K/9, etc. I just think he had a historically dominant season, and while porcello and verlander both had amazing seasons, they weren't as dominant, and if I had to choose one of them for my team last season, im going with the lights out closer from Baltimore.

Completely agree, but in all honesty the awards should be spread out better and handed out in one ceremony as they do in Hockey. That event should also include HOF inductions and the all-star game, which would reflect the best players from the entire season - not the half season. And either way, Upton doesn't get to complain since her husband is in the midst of a $180M contract for throwing a baseball. Does anyone know what I'd do for $180M??? I'd marry Roseanne Bar if I had to. Just imagine her Tweet......lol.
